Time To Choose – June 15th
The Bozeman Doc Series and Citizens’ Climate Lobby present a special screening of Time To Choose, the new documentary examining the reality behind climate change from Academy Award-winning filmmaker Charles Ferguson, on Wednesday, June 15th at the Emerson Center in Bozeman.
The evening will begin with a reception featuring food and drink from The Emerson Grill, and information from local renewable energy and climate change organizations in the Emerson lobby beginning at 6:30pm and continuing after the film. The film will begin at 7:30pm.
Time To Choose explores the comprehensive scope of the climate change crisis and examines the power of solutions already available. With spectacular cinematography taking viewers on a journey around the world, and interviews with world-renowned entrepreneurs, innovators, thought leaders and scientists, the film is an in-depth look at a truly global challenge by one of the leading documentary filmmakers of our time.
In the course of the film’s investigation, audiences meet Appalachian residents dealing with the aftermath of mountaintop removal mining, descend into the dangerous coal pits of China, see the red night skies of Nigeria’s oil and gas lands, and hear from courageous officials fighting corruption and deforestation in Indonesia.
Along the way, fascinating and informative interviews illuminate the reality of climate change today and point the way to a better world. Lyndon Rive, CEO of SolarCity and Nobel Prize winner Muhammed Yunus show viewers how citizens around the globe are accessing affordable renewable energy, while Dr. Jane Goodall connects climate to the places and animals we love. Chinese wind and solar manufacturers discuss how they’ve built some of the largest renewable energy installations on the planet, and regular people from around the world talk about ways they have worked in their own communities to bring about change.
From renewable energy to healthy food to forward-thinking urban planning, the film delves deeply into the wide variety of solutions in the works. Time To Choose leaves audiences understanding not only what is wrong, but what can be done to fix it. It looks squarely at our unique common moment on earth, with an eye to helping change the course of human history.
“A disciplined, structured deep dive into a global crisis…distills (the information) with impeccable research and a straight-talk structure…The imagery…is the film’s biggest commodity, gasp-inducing shots hammering the points home.” Variety
Co-sponsored by Citizen’s Climate Lobby, Independent Power Systems and Montana Cares, the evening will be focused on the latest information about the state of climate change, solutions in the works around the world now, and concrete steps we can take in Montana to address the challenge.
